Framingham State University Course
We the People:
The Citizen and the Constitution
We will once again be offering an online three credit course over the summer for elementary, middle and high school teachers, in conjunction with Framingham State University. This course is a holistic understanding of our American government from its philosophical and historical beginnings through the challenges in its third century. The course title essentially tells it all: Understanding the Fundamental Principles, Values, and Institutions of American Government. This 9 week long course will begin on June 12 through August 13, 2023.
Although it is an online course, participants have the opportunity to work with each other through a discussion forum each week as well as create valuable lesson plans which they can actually use during the school year as well as share with each other and culminate with a short paper on a research topic that would support their teaching. If you are interested in learning more about the course, please refer to the links below.
If you are considering participating, hear what Jason O’Connell, a Worcester Public Schools middle school teacher, had to say after taking the course this past fall/winter:
“I LOVED the format…I have a much more sophisticated understanding of the Civics curriculum that I am tasked to teach. So worth it! Thank you very much!”
